Read Across America! (and a poem I made)

Today is Read Across America Day!

Today, as I told you yesterday, we did the Drop Down And Read. But, lets start before that. First of all, we started in our homeroom class. On our daily school newscast (DDN) , there was a Dr. Seuss special, featuring the green pants and the narrator of the story.

So, we did our regular newscast stuff, pledge allegiance, the weather, national holiday and birthdays. But then, there was a play. A girl named Helena Tadros came in and acted as the yellow furry animal on the front cover above. It was pretty funny and good at the same time. Okay, onto the next part. After the newscast ended, Mr. Hatter let us play a silentball game, basically the continuation of the previous silentball game. The only people left were Andrew, Kavyia, and I. Andrew won and we started a new game. I got out pretty quick on that one. Anyways, we did not have any regular classes today and all we did was just go to each of the teachers to do a special activity. We first went to Mrs. Glassberg. She told us to write on these makeshift travel tags where we want to go. This activity was based on the Dr. Seuss book: Oh, The Places You Can Go!

As we went on, everything was basically the same thing, asking you where you would want to go until finally in Mrs. Fiorello's room (ACTUALLY, THERE WAS A SUB TEACHER.), we did passports. Inside the passports, we had to fill in some things like when it was issued, name, gender and some other stuff. Then, it would have you color states in the seven continents where you have been and where you want to go. Then we had lunch. Lets just skip that. In the afternoon, we got to read to third graders. Our class was assigned Mrs. Bonorigo (I forgot how to spell it.) and Mrs. Dillon's class. Their class came over to our room, just in case you were confused. Each student were assigned a student. Nora and I were assigned Albert and whatsitcallit. We just decided to form one group and read the book Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories. NOW we got to do the drop down and read. Arca and I met up and we went up the hallway, into the art room. The art room was pretty crowded. So much for that. We just decided to settle near the entrance to the cafeteria with our bus mate, Rohet. (I think that was how it was spelled.) I didn't see my brother, and I asked his teacher: Mrs. Costello. She told me he was down the hall way. We moved down and Liang greeted us and went like HEY!

However, Rohet (whatever) didn't come with us. Too bad. We read some Dr. Seuss books and joked about the pictures and we returned to the classroom for dismissal. THAT IS IT!
Oh yeah, here is a website that my brother visited. Go for fun! http://www.seussville.com/#/home

Here is a poem I typed. (I know about the death fact. Look at the poem and you will probably see what I mean.)

I'm trapped in a Seuss book
Words around me
Something about a metal hook
It gives me a lot of glee

How much magic in the words
I'm pretty sure its a lot
So I bet he ain't a bird
Or a rusty metal pot

He may be old
But don't be a fool
As the fates foretold
He is very cool

He has a white beard
He doesn't like to drool
He might be weird
But I think he is still cool

He wrote many books
He's a famous author
I think he's charmed the cooks
He has a lot to offer

His books used to be a nobody
Wanting people to pick them up
Always like an empty birch tree
Wanting them to put down their cups

But at last, finally,
It started to gain fame
People read it happily
That was there aim

A little kid picked one
And yelped gleefuly
Off to his mom, he run
Yaying and yeeing

There's a cat
There are ants
There's a bat
There are pants

All in those books
Crazy creatures there are
Such as a thnook
Or a garbadinar

Seuss was the best
I am sure he was
He wasn't a pest
But he just got applause

That is the end of the poem!
